Olive - Oil
In addition to the crystal-clear beaches and enchanting landscapes, the region has a long tradition of olive cultivation and the production of extra virgin olive oil, a tradition that goes back more than 2,000 years.
There are 28 olive mills in the area, which produce between 5,000 and 7,000 tonnes of olive oil and around 25,000 tonnes of edible olives annually. The local olive groves, tended by generations of producers, produce high-quality olive oil that stands out for its taste and purity.
Walking around the area, you can find olives at least 700 years old, which are living monuments to the history and tradition of the area. The inhabitants of Asprovalta and Vrasna continue to cultivate the land with care and respect, maintaining olive production as a key pillar of the local economy.
Don’t miss to taste the pure olive oil and the fine olives available in various varieties. If you are lucky, you can attend one of the local festivals dedicated to the olive tree, dominated by traditional music, local products and, of course, the region’s favourite tsipouro.
Wine
The magic in Asprovalta and Vrasna continues. Testimonies place the production of wine in the area from the 5th century BC. Dry white and semi-sweet wine were among the first varieties to be developed, with viticulture being an integral part of the local tradition.
The special climate, the quality of the vineyards and the art of winemaking, passed down from generation to generation, have contributed to the creation of excellent wines. In the region and the surrounding area there are important wineries, known throughout Greece for their quality.
